How to File a GRAMA Request in Beaver County

Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act gives anyone the right to request and inspect public records. You do not need to be a Utah resident or show why you want the record. The law is found at Utah Code § 63G-2-201, which states that any person may inspect a public record free of charge during business hours. Agencies in Beaver County must respond to your request within 10 business days.

To file a GRAMA request in Beaver County, write a description of the records you want and submit it to the office that holds them. For property and land records, go to the Recorder. For commission minutes or marriage licenses, contact the Clerk. For court case files, contact the Fifth District Court clerk or use XChange. You don't need a special form, but putting your request in writing helps the agency track and respond to it.

Copy fees under GRAMA are $0.25 per page for black and white copies and $0.50 per page for color. The first 15 minutes of staff time is free. If the search takes longer, the agency may charge for additional time. If your request is denied, you can appeal to the chief administrative officer of the agency. Further appeals go to district court under Utah Code § 63G-2-401. Most routine requests in Beaver County are fulfilled without issue.

Their physical location is 346 S Rio Grande St, Salt Lake City, and they can be reached at (801) 531-3847. This is a good resource for older Beaver County documents not available locally.

Their office is at 3888 West 5400 South, Taylorsville. BCI checks are more comprehensive than what the Sheriff's Office maintains locally.
