Filing a GRAMA Request in Cache County

Under Utah Code § 63G-2-201, anyone has the right to inspect public records in Cache County free of charge during business hours. The Government Records Access and Management Act covers all county agencies. Requests do not require a reason or a specific form. A clear written description of the records you need is sufficient.

The Cache County Clerk accepts online GRAMA submissions through the county website, which makes it easier to get started without a trip to Logan. Once you submit your request, the agency has 10 business days to respond. Common records that people request include commission meeting minutes, financial transactions, election records, and property-related documents. For records specific to another office like the Sheriff or Recorder, submit directly to those offices.

Copy fees are $0.25 per page for black and white and $0.50 per page for color. The first 15 minutes of staff time is free. Additional staff time is billed at a rate set by the agency. If your request is denied, you may appeal to the chief administrative officer of the agency. Further appeals go to district court under Utah Code § 63G-2-401. Cache County's online GRAMA portal reduces friction for most standard requests.

Historical Cache County records not held locally may be at the Utah State Archives at archives.utah.gov, located at 346 S Rio Grande St, Salt Lake City, (801) 531-3847.
